Bankroll management
Dear Antonio,
I just have to tell that I love the attitude you bring to the table... you're one of the best and you've proved yourself time after time. Most importantly I like the way you balance your work with life. My question to you is that I'm only 19 and I've been playing poker for the past year and I've gotten a very nice return on my investment. I don't want to bore you but I remember reading SS and other poker books in my stairwell, smoking and sippin' on Baileys on ice, since my parents didn't approve of my passion for poker. Sorry kinda got off topic, but my question to you is how do manage your money, this may be a personal question but you seem to live a lavish life and you truly deserve it. But how are you able to do what you do and still have money so that you don't tarnish your bankroll? Thanks, and sorry for the length of this email...best of luck in the future...
Mhyar...
Hey Mhyar,
Thanks for kind words, man. I do try to balance work and play. These days I especially try to find time to keep the ol' body fit. All that treadmill time really helps with tourney stamina. As for the lifestyle, I believe in living well and I'm blessed to be able to do that. You're right about defending your bankroll. You have to protect that at all cost, 'cause that's like the tools of your trade, and without your tools you can't work. If your bankroll allows, try this with your profits: one-third to the bankroll, one-third to the party, one-third to the future. Don't forget that one-third to the future! There's no point in earning all this money if you don't have something to show for it when you're done. Whatever happens, though, it's all good. Remember, "Life is the ultimate freeroll."
