Bluffing - Putting someone on tilt
Dear Antonio,
Hey,
first off I want to say that I think you are the best player in the world and I loved your heads up match with Phil Hellmuth. Loved how you put him on tilt after you won a pot with King high. I had you picked to win.
My question is this, I was recently in a game, i was first to act and raised with a 6 2 offsuit. I only got one caller but he though about it for a long time so i put him on KQ or KJ. The flop came K 8 J. he bet and i raised. he thought about it for a long time then he called so now i was sure he had KQ. the turn came another J, he checked and i made a huge bet, he folded and flipped over K Q off suit and said " you either got aces or a jack" so i showed the 6 2 and said" no you just got out played", he went on tilt and over the next four five hands i took all his chips. my question is, do you think this was a good play and what would you have done different?
The Mike Factor
Hey Mike,
You showed some stones there, that's for sure. Two ways: First, driving a bluff (and firing a second barrel) into a guy who had a hand a lot of players would call with without a second thought. Second, taunting the other guy. If this was online, fine, but if in a real game, watch your ass in the parking lot! Just kidding, M. You played it strong, got away with the bluff & picked up extra equity by tilting the dude. I might not have shown the bluff -- so I could bluff him again -- but other than that I think you did fine.
