Broken tables and getting moved

Ask Antonio Esfandiari - Question - Poker Strategy and Advice Hello Antonio,

My question is about broken tables. I understand what a broken table is, but why would they take someone who is doing good in one seat at a table to put them in the worst seat at another? Is this a general rule, and have you experienced it?

Thank you,
Lisa

Ask Antonio Esfandiari - Answer - Poker Strategy and Advice Hi Lisa,

Tables have to break as players get eliminated in order to keep the remaining tables full. New seats are assigned randomly, so, yeah, sometimes you get moved to a bad table, but just as often the new table is better than the one you left. I always figure that when I move to a new table it just got worse -- for everybody else! By the way, if you're playing in local daily or weekly tournaments, they usually hand out seat cards starting with the tables that will be late or last to break, so if you want to stick with one table and not move, just get there real early to sign up. Then go win your buy-in in the cash games, and you'll be freerolling!
