Don't limp and give your opponents cheap draws
Antonio,
question please
I've asked many and recieved many answers - I'll lay out the hand details below (I know I know, every hand is circumstantial) but just to give you a brief idea of my problem I'll just lay out the basics.
your hand 3c3d
opponents hand As6s
others fold
flop
3s10sJd
In this situation I tend to bet over 100% of the pot in order to make opponent pay real bad to catch his / her draw and protect my hand either that or I bet 80 percent (I know it depends on opponent ....) just to give real bad pot odds versus actual odds (now I'm no poker buff so dont get me wrong lol but I know my basics at least I think I do....) but I generally get called and opponents tend to catch a flush more than they should (in my book they shouldnt even be in the hand prohibitive odds etc) can u tell me or at least give me a rough guide of how to play in this spot? I dont think limping in is right coz u give opponent cheap turn to hit flush or am i wrong HELP!!! thanks for your time.(I also face this prob when I hit top pair with good kicker etc- this seems to be my biggest flaw)

BillyLondon,
Your instincts are right. You don't want to limp and you don't want to give your opponents cheap draws (correct odds). The name of the game is to make them make mistakes (by calling when they shouldn't) and make them pay for their mistakes. Don't get too cute, though. If you know you have the best hand, consider shoving your whole stack in. Don't worry about losing customers, 'cause if they all fold, you don't have to get lucky (or not get unlucky) to win the pot. Also don't imagine that they're always sucking out on you. They're not. It just seems that way because you're remembering the beats more clearly than the times your hand holds up.
